Puerto Banús opened in 1970 as a luxury marina developed by José Banús, and it remains the best-known address on the Costa del Sol. Superyachts line the quay, designer boutiques fill the waterfront, and the restaurants, bars and beach clubs make it one of the liveliest places on the coast all year round. Just behind the port are El Corte Inglés, cinemas and everyday shopping, with Nueva Andalucía and its golf courses a short walk inland.
Homes in Puerto Banús are mostly apartments and penthouses, many in the marina itself or in beachfront complexes either side of the port. The most desirable properties have terraces overlooking the harbour or direct access to the beach, and penthouses with wrap-around terraces and sea views are in short supply. A short distance away, beachside communities towards Río Verde and San Pedro offer quieter living within walking distance of the port.
